
Dr. Richmond joined the CHHS Advising center in January 2020 as the inaugural Director. He is a young professional with a passion to serve adult learners and he believes in the power of higher education and student support. It was during his teaching and graduate assistantships that he developed a commitment to working with and developing adults in higher education. Being a native of Memphis, TN, he is a highly self-motivated and versatile higher education scholar practitioner whose professional background includes administrative and teaching experiences across several realms: Communication & Branding, student support services, student development & retention initiatives, campus programming, leadership development, teaching, office operations & function, academic advising, student affairs administration, budgeting, diversity awareness, assessment, graduate student development, multicultural programming, operations, and constituency relations
He has over 15 years of experience as a college administrator and educator, at a variety of institutions inside and outside of the classroom. He is passionate about student development and helping students become their best selves. In his spare time, he enjoys interacting with close friends/family- debating social/policy issues, traveling with his wife, health & fitness activities, reading books and controversial commentary articles, watching 90s R&B videos on Youtube, (for which he’s addicted to!) and attending live music concerts. He has been a dedicated viewer of: Suits on USA, Queen Sugar on OWN, Power on Starz, The Good Fight on CBS, The Smithsonian Channel, VH1 Soul, TvOne, Hot Bench, C-SPAN, The History Channel, A&E, and The Dog Whisperer.
