J.P. Barfield

J.P. Barfield is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Curriculum and Student Affairs for UNC Charlotte’s College of Health and Human Services. He previously served as chair of the college’s Applied Physiology, Health, and Clinical Sciences department.

Barfield has 26 years of higher education experience in teaching and leadership appointments in exercise science, kinesiology, occupational therapy and physical therapy. He is a research fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine and conducts research on Para sport athletes.

He currently serves as treasurer for the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity and is the head of classification for the Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association, the International Paralympic Committee-recognized governing body of powerchair soccer.
