UK nursing and social work students engage in study abroad program at UNC Charlotte

Nursing and social work students from London’s Kingston University spent two weeks at the College of Health and Human Services and various locations throughout the Charlotte area exploring healthcare, social services and local culture through a customized program developed by the University’s Charlotte Global office and the College’s School of Nursing.

During the two-week visit, participants gained firsthand exposure to healthcare and social work practice in the United States through excursions to Atrium Health Pineville, Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center and Behavioral Health Charlotte. The students attended presentations by UNC Charlotte faculty, observed classes at the College of Health and Human Services and participated in hands-on simulations that strengthened their clinical skills and underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

“When students engage in learning across international contexts, they gain perspectives that shape their careers in lasting ways,” said Rachel Ladenheim, assistant director of Charlotte Global’s Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences. “This program reflects Charlotte Global’s continued commitment to building meaningful international experiences for students, staff and faculty.”
