Dean Catrine Tudor-Locke announced she will leave UNC Charlotte’s College of Health and Human Services effective June 30. Yvette Huet, professor in the College’s Department of Applied Physiology, Health and Clinical Sciences, will become interim dean.

Tudor-Locke has accepted the position of Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Texas Woman’s University where she will be responsible for leading programs at three separate campuses.
Tudor-Locke joined UNC Charlotte in 2019. During her tenure, she started the accreditation process for the college’s recognition as a School of Public Health, led the development of the five-year strategic plan, partnered with the School of Data Science to establish a certificate and now undergraduate degree in Sports Analytics, and re-directed and built out existing research infrastructure to include a Research Council, Biostatistics Core, Research Enhancement Funds, and Summer Faculty Fellows.

Huet, who is currently serving as interim chair of the Epidemiology and Community Health Department within the College of Health and Human Services, will begin her duties as interim dean July 1. A national search is planned for next academic year for a permanent successor.
Huet joined the University in 1991 and during her tenure has served a variety of leadership roles, including executive director of the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success, interim co-vice chancellor for the Office of Research and Economic Development, director of the Health Services Research Doctoral Program, interim chair of the Applied Physiology, Health and Clinical Sciences Department, and manager of the UNC Charlotte Vivarium.
Huet completed a Ph.D. in physiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center and undergraduate degrees in microbiology and human biology from the University of Kansas.
Her research focuses on understanding the role of gonadal steroids (primarily estrogen) in normal physiology and adult diseases and the effects of neonatal exposure to environmental toxicants on development and adult disease.
“I’m pleased to step into the role of interim dean and serve our exceptional students, faculty, and staff during this important transition,” Huet said. “I look forward to helping the college continue to move the School of Public Health accreditation process forward and uphold our commitment to academic excellence.”
