Tyler Placeres

This is my second time at UNC Charlotte joining the College of Health and Human Services after previously serving in Undergraduate Admissions and Residence Life. I started my journey in higher education at my undergrad institution doing everything from being in a fraternity to working in University Advancement. I loved college so much that I never left. My favorite part of working in higher education is watching a student walk across the stage knowing they put in the work to get to graduation!

Degrees 

My undergraduate major is in Speech Rhetoric with an emphasis on Political Communication. Giving, delivering, and researching political speeches were all I did during my undergrad years. I received my Master’s degree in College Student Counseling and Affairs. My passion for helping people turned from public service to college students and helping them reach their potential.

Advice to Students

What you want is just around the corner but truly enjoy the moment you are in now. Making the memories of the here and now will always be something you will miss if you don’t do that. Step out of your comfort zone, do something new, and take a picture (mental or physical) while you are along the way.

About Me 

I am a beach kid originally from Tampa, Florida growing up 10 minutes from the beach and going to college roughly 20 minutes from the beach. You can catch me hanging with friends, spending time with my wife, and playing fetch or tug with our 75-pound golden retriever named Nana.
